Lyme Diary

The goal of my blog is to share my experiences in the hopes of helping you to feel less alone and scared. I will be honest with you, no sugar-coating. For that reason, some content may not be appropriate for young children. That is up to your discretion. When you begin treatment, know that it is common, normal even, to get worse before you get better. Keep going. Keep fighting! It will be worth it.

lyme warrior,

I remember June 23, 2017 with bizarre clarity. I say bizarre because, despite the jarring effect it has on my memory, there’s a blurriness that surrounds that day. A hidden urge to wipe it all away. June 23 was the appointment that marks the beginning of my Lyme disease treatment....

For two-and-a-half years I felt weak. I could barely walk, getting out of bed every morning felt like digging out of quicksand and showering was a monumental task. My hair was falling out, my tongue turned black and I had an inexplicable painful rash on my toes that was slowly...

Alright Lymies, this is a tough one. Even three years into remission, I continue to struggle with foreboding joy. A two-and-a-half year battle against chronic illness will do that to you. At some point during my treatment, joy became non-existent. I forgot what it felt like. Joy was just not...

For twenty-plus years my Lyme disease went undiagnosed. I then battled this horrendous disease for two-and-a-half years. Once I conquered and was pronounced in remission, I began showing signs of PTSD. I sought out a therapist and was diagnosed with chronic PTSD. For the past three years I have been...

Many of us take ‘vacations’ but not all of us consider the rejuvenating experience of taking a vacation for the mind. Lymies in particular have a mind that never stops. I know, I remember. The life of a Lyme warrior is a never-ending mental slog. Am I right? What is...
